Summer Library Program
Near the beginning of each year, APLS holds a Summer Reading Kickoff presenting programming tips and ideas from the Summer Reading Committee supporting that year’s theme and slogan. The Summer Reading Committee is comprised of librarians around the state who work with children, teens, and adult programming from large and small libraries to present a well-rounded approach.

The CSLP manual includes four individual manuals: early literacy, children’s, teen, and adult. The manuals include information about: why having a summer program is important, marketing, finding funding, and many programming ideas to support the theme. The manual also includes artwork to support the theme (color and black and white), booklists, puzzles, and games. The promotional materials APLS provides are: posters, bookmarks, reading logs, stickers, and completion certificates.
