Information Technology
The Information Technology Division of APLS takes pride in helping public libraries with their technology needs and concerns. One of their primary goals is to provide high quality, professional information technology service and support to public libraries across the state. Staff make a diligent and concerted effort to stay current with the latest technologies, both software and hardware.
Knowledge areas and services include the following:
- Web Development/Hosting
- Servers/Workstations
- Operating Systems
- Virtualization
- Databases Library Automation (Evergreen)
- Security
- Office Productivity
- Consulting
- On-site and Remote Support
As public libraries advance their technology footprint, they are still a focal point in communities for education, research, and entertainment. These public library offerings are especially important in smaller rural communities where a service such as Internet connectivity is not readily available or affordable to citizens. IT strives to keep those technologies that power these services running as efficiently as possible while also taking the pressure off our public libraries’ already strained budgets.
