APLS to fill position for library operations manager

The Alabama Public Library Service (APLS) is the state agency that serves all citizens of Alabama through more than 220 public libraries in 67 counties. We are charged with improving library services throughout the state to ensure that all citizens have access to quality library information services. We do this through our five divisions (Administration, Library Development, Information Technology, Reference, and the Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled).
APLS is seeking a library operations manager to help us achieve our mission by providing high-quality services and resources to Alabama’s public library directors. This position provides leadership by establishing communication channels and delivers library services and development activities to public libraries throughout Alabama.
Required qualifications are:
- A Master of Library Science, Master of Library and Information Science, or Master of Science in Library Sciences from an accredited school.
- Five years of professional experience including two years' experience of supervising a staff of professionals, technical, and or clerical employees. (Supervision is defined as making daily work assignments, approving/disapproving leave requests. Reassigning job duties on a permanent basis, recommending disciplinary action preparing and conducting performance appraisals, interviewing and making hiring recommendations).
Salary Range
$56,971.20 - $95,800.80 and benefits
Hours
40 hours per week on-site.
Required Travel
Approximately 5 to 15 percent travel. Travel includes in-state and some out-of-state, occasionally overnight and weekends.
