APLS opens book list to submissions from concerned parents
December 14, 2023
MONTGOMERY—The Alabama Public Library Service (APLS) is now accepting submissions from parents concerned about the appropriateness of some resources available to children and teenagers in the state’s public libraries. Submissions will be compiled by APLS and added to a statewide list of children’s books being challenged by parents.
In September, the APLS Board of Directors voted to develop a list of books that some parents may find objectionable for children or youth. This informational list is designed to help guide public librarians in decisions regarding the addition of books to their collections. This list is considered a tool for library professionals and will not be available for viewing by the general public.
If you are interested in submitting a title for inclusion on this list, you may do so by filling out the form on our website at https://aplsws2.apls.state.al.us/book-content.
The Alabama Public Library Service is the state agency whose mission is to provide information to all citizens, local public libraries, and state employees.
